Domain Advertising Network
My Domain Idea visions to become the industry leader in providing an advertising network for the entire domain parking industry. We would be able to create the first advertising network from scratch that will cater specifically to the domain parking industry only. With the introduction of the IPv6 protocol, there will be massive amounts of domain names being registered worldwide. Having all those domain names being registered, one would have to think that there isn't simply enough time or people to develop all those sites that are being snatched up. The major difference between IPv4 and IPv6 is the number of IP addresses. There are just over 4 billion IPv4 addresses. In contrast, there are over 16 billion-billion IPv6 addresses. With all those extra domain names one can only realize the massive opportunity at hand. All those sites that decide not to be developed will be parked at a domain parking service; My Domain Idea plans to be one. If My Domain Idea was to have a domain parking service, one would think that the most logical thing to do is; create an advertising network for all those domain names being parked. My Domain Idea want to be the first to create an advertising network specifically catering to domain names. We want to compete with the big guns.
Currently, there's been talk on the internet that Google and Yahoo will drop its advertising feeds to ASK.com. As of March 1. 2008, all domain parking sites using the ASK.com feed will either have to find another source for their advertisement links or will have no other option to shut down.
The reason behind this is explained in this article
"The total revenue from domain parking last year was $800 million which means that parking represents 10.2% of the total ad-network channel or 4.7% of Google and Yahoo's total revenue. These are big numbers but it also means that the domain channel is going to be able to fly beneath the radar any longer.
Here's the issue, if you're sitting on the board of Google or Yahoo wondering how you're going to support a market capitalization that's in the stratosphere (Google) or how to join a rival (Yahoo) the easiest thing that you can do is begin to squeeze the margins of domainers. Domainers are part of a highly fragmented market that really doesn't have any power over the advertising aggregators, it's a soft easy option. I think that we're beginning to see this sort of action in the decline of EPC pricing.
Here's where it gets really interesting. The projected online advertising spend is going to grow by 15.1% for 2007 while the domain channel is growing by 37.5%. The domain channel is rapidly cannibalizing the content channel advertising revenue and it has a huge and growing appetite. Verisign has indicated that 23% of all registered domains are parked and this is likely to increase which suggests that the domain channel may surpass 37.5% growth rates in the near future.
The growth rate and size of the domain parking industry will bring the attention of senior executives within Google and Yahoo; therefore I would expect some change in the future. It is only a matter of time."
